Friday is National College Colors Day—an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience. Since 2004, College Colors Day has been the Friday before Labor Day to marking the start of the college football season and honor the traditions and spirit that make the college experience unforgettable. This year’s theme is “don’t miss the moment.”

Vanderbilt will celebrate College Colors Day on Aug. 30, just ahead of the football season opener on Aug. 31, when the Commodores take on Virginia Tech at FirstBank Stadium at 11 a.m.

Today and tomorrow, Vanderbilt encourages students, alumni and members of the extended Vanderbilt family to sport their black and gold gear with pride in a show of support and unity for the football team and university. Show off your unique style by sharing photos and videos of your College Colors Day swag and tagging Vanderbilt on social media and using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay.

If you’re a little short on VU gear, Vanderbilt faculty and staff can get a 10 percent discount on most merchandise at the Vanderbilt Bookstore with a university ID.
