Nominate faculty for Fall 2024 awards recognizing research, service

Nominations are now open for Vanderbilt’s top faculty awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in research and service to the university and demonstrate Vanderbilt’s appreciation for and commitment to excellence. All faculty are eligible to submit nominations for the four awards to be presented at the 2024 Fall Faculty Assembly.  The assembly will take place on August 22 in the Student Life Center ballroom.

Nominations must be submitted by June 14 through Vanderbilt’s InfoReady portal. Nominators will log in using their VUnetID and select the applicable award(s) for which they wish to submit nominations. Previous recipients of research awards are only eligible for work published at least five years after their initial win. Nominations will be reviewed by the Faculty Research Awards Committee.

The award descriptions are as follows:

  • The Chancellor’s Award for Research recognizes excellence on the part of faculty for published research, scholarship or creative expression.
  • The Chancellor’s Award for Research on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion recognizes excellence on the part of faculty in published research, scholarship or creative expression that advances our understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • The Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in Research is awarded for achievements in research, scholarship or creative expression that have garnered significant critical reception and are recognized nationally or internationally.
  • The Thomas Jefferson Award recognizes distinguished service to Vanderbilt through extraordinary contributions as a member of the faculty in the councils and government of the university.
