Douglas L. Christiansen, vice provost for university enrollment affairs and dean of admissions and financial aid, has been recognized with the 2023 Coalition Champion award by the Coalition for College, a national nonprofit organization of more than 170 colleges and universities dedicated to expanding access to higher education.
Under Christiansen’s leadership, Vanderbilt University was a founding member of the coalition, which has supported more than 1 million students since 2016. The Coalition Champion award recognizes his “tireless dedication, vision and effort in founding the Coalition for College.”
The Coalition for College is committed to making college affordable and ensuring students graduate on time with little or no debt. The coalition aims to motivate a stronger college-going mindset among students of all backgrounds, especially those from low-income families or underrepresented groups who have historically had less access to leading colleges and universities.
“Doug Christiansen’s pathbreaking national leadership and dedication to access and opportunity are deeply impressive and so central to our institutional mission and vision,” Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver said.
