Vanderbilt’s current primary voice services platform, Skype for Business, is being retired by Microsoft. The university recently transitioned to Microsoft Teams, a more advanced voice services offering. As a last step in this transition, VUIT will remove Skype for Business services as of Dec. 15, 2022.
The removal of the Skype service will impact any common area phones that have not been migrated to Teams. Common area phones may best be recognized as conference room phones, phones in labs and phones intended for a shared workspace and are not assigned to an individual’s VUnetID.
VUIT is working with various points of contact in each area to identify impacted common area phones and facilitate migrations. For information related to Teams-compatible devices, visit the Teams website.
