The Nichols Humanitarian Fund, which provides funding in support of Vanderbilt students who plan to pursue humanitarian immersive experiences, will begin accepting applications for summer 2023 on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. CT on Jan. 17, 2023.
All undergraduate students are encouraged to attend the annual reception and open house on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Student Life Center Board of Trust Room. During the event, the 2022 award recipients will be celebrated for their accomplishments. The student recipients also plan to share their experiences with those who attend.
Edward C. Nichols Jr., JD’70, and his wife, Janice Nichols, will be in attendance at the Nov. 1 event. Introductory remarks will be given by Michael Newton, professor of the practice of law and of political science. Newton is also director for both the International Legal Studies Program as well as the Vanderbilt-in-Venice program.
The Nichols Humanitarian Fund assists Vanderbilt students by paying expenses associated with their planned humanitarian experiences. Students plan their own summer experiences, which take place for a minimum of two weeks in any location Vanderbilt University will sponsor travel. These experiences can be the basis for a student’s Immersion Vanderbilt project.
