Faculty and staff invited to join Military and Veterans Employee Affinity Group

Salute to Service football game

Vanderbilt University faculty and staff are invited to join the Military and Veterans Employee Affinity Group and attend the Salute to Service football game against South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 5. Free tickets will be provided to the first 50 people who sign up.

The Military and Veterans Employee Affinity Group includes all employees who are affiliated with the military, including family members of military veterans and service members. It is co-chaired by former Army Capt. Xavier Purdy and recently retired Army Sfc. Lydell Francis.

“Our mission is to enrich the experience of Vanderbilt’s veteran population by supporting the unique needs of those who have served and their families,” said Lydell, Department of Defense SkillBridge program manager, executive projects in the Office of the Chancellor.

The group holds monthly Zoom meetings and quarterly in-person events.

“We aim to support our network of veterans through professional engagements, social interactions, mentorship and professional development while fostering a climate of selfless service to our community,” said Purdy, deputy chief of staff and director of projects in the Office of the Provost.
