Shan Foster’s No. 32 jersey now officially hangs from the Memorial Gymnasium rafters.
At halftime of Vanderbilt’s 5 p.m. matchup with LSU on Feb. 5, Vanderbilt Athletics honored the former Vandy great with a jersey retirement ceremony.
Foster, BS’08, is Vanderbilt’s all-time leader in points (2,011) and 3s made (367) and holds the Southeastern Conference record for consecutive games with a 3-pointer made (34). He was an Associated Press All-American in 2007–08 and was a second-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Originally from Laurel, Mississippi, Foster once scored 42 points in a game against Mississippi State. He was named the 2008 SEC Player of the Year.
Foster is the fifth former Vanderbilt basketball player to have their jersey number retired. He joins Clyde Lee (1962–66), Perry Wallace (1966–70), Wendy Scholtens (1986–90) and Chantelle Anderson (1999–03).
