Vanderbilt’s sixth annual Giving Day is April 21. This year’s theme, Vandy We Stand, is a call for everyone in the Vanderbilt community, including students, to stand together in support of the university we love.
Giving Day brings the entire Vanderbilt community together to stand as One Vanderbilt to support teaching and research that advance Vanderbilt’s mission: the lifelong realization of human potential. Last year, more than 7,000 individuals came together in a single day to raise an astonishing $5.2 million for a wide range of scholarships, athletics programs, student organizations and groundbreaking research initiatives.
Giving Day is not about a single gift; it’s about the cumulative effect thousands of gifts can have on Vanderbilt students and faculty and our pursuit of lifelong growth and achievement—today and for years to come.
Giving Day is also about fun, and there will be no shortage of that on April 21.
Give on the Green is the official Giving Day party, happening noon–4 p.m. on Library Lawn. Everyone is invited to watch the donor count grow while enjoying food, treats, entertainment and games. Plus, take part in the Giving Day mosaic portrait, which will be a part of the Vanderbilt campus for years to come.
Generous members of the Vanderbilt community also have lined up almost $1 million in challenges for donors to unlock with their gifts. These will include social media challenges, student org challenges and a first-time donor challenge.
Student organizations with the most donors will receive an additional $1,500 when the final donor count is tallied. Meanwhile, one first-time donor will be randomly selected to earn a $1,000 bonus prize for the school, program or organization of their choice. More information about these and other challenges will be shared in the coming weeks and throughout Giving Day.
Vanderbilt’s culture is built on the belief that people working in common purpose accomplish more than any individual ever could. Giving Day is just that—donors coming together from every corner of the Vanderbilt community to move the university forward.
