Vanderbilt University will implement an email security enhancement in January 2022 that will help ensure VU email accounts stay safe and secure by preventing spoofing, a practice used to forge the “from” address of an email message. The enhancement will also increase email deliverability by verifying that all messages are from an authentic VU email address.
What is changing?
Once these security enhancements are complete, emails from unauthorized senders using an @vanderbilt.edu email address will not be delivered, and recipients will neither receive nor be notified of those emails.
Users of mail campaigns will need to move to the university’s MyEmma solution in order to ensure their messages continue to be delivered.
Will I be impacted, and how can I prepare?
If you use another third-party solution to send mass mail campaigns from an @vanderbilt.edu email address, such as MailChimp or Constant Contact, you will no longer be able to do so after January 2022.
If you believe this security enhancement may impact you and you have not already met with the project team, VUIT would like to meet at your earliest convenience to review your mail campaign process and assist with any needed changes.
