Jennifer Bischoff has joined the Office of the Vice Provost for Research as executive director for research operations, effective Nov. 1.

In her new role, Bischoff is responsible for planning and directing operational, financial and administrative activities across all units within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. In particular, she will engage deeply in the strategic development of the centers and institutes that report to the vice provost for research.

“Growing institutional capacity for research operations is key to faculty success, and the executive director for research operations is a crucial player in advancing our strategy on that point,” Vice Provost for Research Padma Raghavan said. “Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, spanning finance and accounting to strategy and business management, that will give our units the strong foundation they need to advance breakthroughs.”

Bischoff is a Vanderbilt alumna with more than two decades of experience in public accounting, business management and financial operations. She currently is the finance director for vice provost support in Academic Affairs, one of a series of increasingly leading roles she has served in finance-related areas at Vanderbilt University since 2011.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research centers and institutes exemplify Vanderbilt’s culture of collaboration and cutting-edge research, innovation, technology transfer and commercialization, bringing together faculty and students from across disciplines, colleges and schools. By offering unique resources such as state-of-the-art instrumentation, the centers and institutes empower faculty to come together to advance multidisciplinary projects that would not be possible otherwise.

“I’m honored and excited to contribute in a meaningful way toward elevating Vanderbilt’s research profile,” Bischoff said. “Strong operational support will enhance our research capacity and help position our research centers and institutes to reach the next level.”
