Staff of the Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries participated in the inaugural Staff Celebration Oct. 25 to recognize and honor their commitment to the university community.

“Our libraries are vital to our academic and research mission at Vanderbilt,” said Vanessa Beasley, vice provost for academic affairs and dean of residential faculty. “From the subject librarians who assist our students, faculty and staff to the staff members who maintain the physical spaces that hold some of our most-valued intellectual resources, this is a team of individuals dedicated to the sharing of information and the creation of new knowledge.”

The event included remarks from Beasley as well as opportunities for library staff members to interact with colleagues while receiving a commemorative gift. Beasley noted in her remarks, “This celebration marks our appreciation for the many staff members who have worked tirelessly to support our community, developing innovative ways to meet faculty and students’ needs. I look forward to making this an annual event.”
