Several Vanderbilt offices will partner to host two virtual events focused on federal science, technology, engineering and mathematics policy on Nov. 1 and 8.
On Monday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. CT, STEM undergraduate and graduate students and postdocs considering careers in public policy are encouraged to register for the “Science Policy Careers Panel” to get a behind-the-scenes look from various experts in the field who have experience at federal agencies, in Congress and with science and higher education associations. This panel will provide insights into potential career opportunities and answer questions.
The following week, on Monday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. CT, STEM graduate students and postdocs considering careers in public policy or applying for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy (STP) Fellowship, are encouraged to register for the “AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellows Panel.” This panel will include current and former AAAS STP fellows, all of whom have a Vanderbilt University connection, to discuss their experiences as fellows and answer any questions.
These seminars are being led by the Vanderbilt University Office of Federal Relations and moderated by Heather Bloemhard, assistant director of federal relations and former AAAS S&T Policy fellow. Other partners for these events include the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Office of Federal Relations, Vanderbilt School of Engineering, the Vanderbilt Graduate School, the BRET Office of Career Development, the Career Center, and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
