The Nichols Humanitarian Fund, which provides financial support for Vanderbilt students who wish to pursue humanitarian work, will begin accepting applications for 2022 on Oct. 22. The deadline to apply is Nov. 30, 2021.
The fund supports students who volunteer for humanitarian service opportunities. Awards assist Vanderbilt students by paying for the expenses associated with their planned humanitarian activities. For undergraduate students, these activities are potential Immersion Vanderbilt experiences.
Students seeking admission to the summer 2022 cohort are permitted to engage in work locally, virtually or anywhere that the university will sponsor travel.
Interested students are encouraged to attend the annual reception and open house on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Student Life Center patio. During the event, 2021 award recipients will be honored. Edward C. Nichols Jr., JD’70, and his wife, Janice Nichols, will be in attendance. Introductory remarks will be given by Gray Sasser, executive director of the Vanderbilt Project on Unity and American Democracy.
