National Postdoc Appreciation Week is Sept. 20–24

National Postdoc Appreciation Week launches today, Sept. 20, and continues through Friday, Sept. 24. In collaboration with many campus partners, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs has curated a roster of events in celebration of the Vanderbilt postdoc community.

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver, Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School André Christie-Mizell and other members of Vanderbilt’s leadership team who work closely with postdoctoral fellows recorded a video message of thanks, highlighting postdocs’ service and vital contributions to the university.

Vanderbilt postdoctoral fellows, commonly known as postdocs, are professionals who have earned doctoral degrees and are, in most cases, temporarily pursuing additional scholarly training, experience and research necessary for a wide range of career paths. Postdocs play an important role in Vanderbilt’s research enterprise and are integral to the discovery and learning mission of Vanderbilt University and Medical Center. At any given time, Vanderbilt has about 450 postdocs across both VU and VUMC.

The full schedule of events along with registration details can be found on the OPA website.
