Portion of sidewalk near Eskind Library, VUMC Adult Hospital to close

To expand an MRI mechanical room at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Adult Hospital, a portion of the walkway near Eskind Library and the Adult Hospital will be temporarily closed starting Saturday, Oct. 16.

The construction site is on the north side of the Adult Hospital just west of Medical Center Drive. Flaggers will be stationed in multiple locations in the area to help re-route pedestrian traffic and assist those with accessibility needs.

Work on the project will occur primarily after 6 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. Some of the trees and landscaping in the area will be removed, and the VUMC project manager is working closely with the university’s landscape architect to select which trees will be removed and replaced.

The project will be completed in summer 2022, and updates will be released as needed.
