Vanderbilt University Public Safety is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Friday, July 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VUPS Training Annex, 115 28th Ave. S.
The event is part of “Remembering the Badges,” which commemorates the 20th anniversary of 9/11. VUPS is joining with Middle Tennessee police forces, government agencies and community sponsors to collect 2,977 pints of blood from April through September representing the number of lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
At the July 2 blood drive, in addition to regular blood donation there will be an option for Power Red donations, where a donor can safely donate two units of red blood cells. Free parking will be available for those donating blood. The Red Cross has set a goal of collecting 20 units on July 2.
To schedule an appointment, please visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter the sponsor code “rememberingthebadges,” then look for the July 2, 2021, event.
