A virtual event to discuss the formation of an Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander Employee Affinity Group is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. CT. The meeting will be conducted over Zoom.

Those who identify as Asian, Asian American or Pacific Islander, the parents of Asian, Asian American or Pacific Islander children, other family members, caregivers and friends are encouraged to attend.
The meeting is open to all Vanderbilt employees, including staff, faculty and postdoctoral scholars, regardless of identity.
The goal of the listening session is to gather input, ask questions and offer suggestions about how this employee affinity group at Vanderbilt can best serve this community, including creating programming for Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander individuals and their families.
The listening session will be facilitated by:
- Linzie Treadway, project manager, Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
- Yasmine Mukahal, assistant director for diversity engagement and outreach, People and Business Services
- Xiu Cravens, associate dean for international students and affairs and associate professor of the practice in Peabody College’s Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations
- Paul Lim, associate professor of the history and associate professor of religious studies in the College of Arts and Science
This event is part of a new university initiative to create Employee Affinity Groups supported by the Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in partnership with Human Resources. Other groups in the initiative include the Association of Vanderbilt Black Faculty and Staff, the LGBTQI+ affinity group, the Neurodiversity affinity group and the Golden Dores.
