Nominations are open until March 5 for the 2020–21 Diversity Leadership Awards, which recognize staff members who demonstrate exemplary leadership by putting the ideals of equity, diversity and inclusion into practical action.
Nominations can be submitted by staff, students, faculty or postdoctoral scholars through the online nomination form. For 2019–20, there were two recipients: Fran Spurrier, director of IT Transition Management, and Harold Brown, a program coordinator in Learning and Residential Affairs in the Office of the Dean of Students.
“I continue to be inspired by the many staff members who live out their commitment to fostering a campus culture in which everyone feels welcomed and valued,” said Dr. André L. Churchwell, vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer. “With the university’s reinvigorated efforts to enhance diversity and promote inclusion, the Diversity Leadership Awards play an important role in recognizing these vital efforts by our staff.”

Impact: An individual who substantially enhances the university’s equity, diversity, inclusion, engagement and trust efforts.
