UPDATE: The main phone lines for VUPD Dispatch have been restored and are now operational.

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier and Vice Chancellor for Administration Eric Kopstain shared a message with the university community on Dec. 25 regarding the explosion in downtown Nashville:

Dear Vanderbilt Community,

As you’ve likely seen on the news, at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, an explosion occurred in the downtown Nashville area around the intersection of 2nd Ave. N and Commerce St. The Vanderbilt University campus has not been impacted as a result of this incident, although we continue to monitor the situation closely and are checking on faculty, staff and students, including off-campus students. So far this morning, we have no reports of anyone from the Vanderbilt community being affected, but if you have been impacted by the explosion, please contact Vanderbilt University Public Safety (see contact information at the top of this page) as soon as possible.  We are in contact with local authorities and we will update the Vanderbilt community as needed.

Sincerely,

Daniel Diermeier
Chancellor

Eric Kopstain
Vice Chancellor for Administration
