Vanderbilt University Medical Center has received a limited amount of COVID-19 vaccine approved under an Emergency Use Authorization and, consistent with the Vaccination Plan for the State of Tennessee, is giving first priority to its health care workforce, health professions learners in the School of Medicine and School of Nursing who provide direct patient care, and Vanderbilt Public Safety officers who are first responders.
Vaccinations began on Thursday, Dec. 17.
The Metro Public Health Department is working closely with the Tennessee Department of Health to ensure vaccinations are allocated and first distributed to priority populations.
When additional information about further vaccine distribution is made available, Vanderbilt will issue guidance for students, faculty, staff and postdocs.
The university will continue to follow public health guidance, as it has throughout the pandemic.
Members of the Vanderbilt community, including those who receive the vaccine, will be expected to follow the university’s safety protocols.
