Jana Blick, assistant controller for Vanderbilt University, has been selected to lead the Office of Contract and Grant Accounting as the interim senior director beginning Jan. 1, 2021.
Blick will guide Contract and Grant Accounting while a search is underway for candidates to fill the newly created senior director position. In her interim role, Blick will be responsible for all aspects of post-award accounting for Vanderbilt University. She will oversee the day-to-day activities of accounting for contracts and grants, including the financial management of awards, internal controls, and building the research finance team. She will work closely with departmental research administrators, the Office of Research and the Division of Finance to facilitate collaboration across the entire research and administrative communities.
Blick brings a wealth of experience to this position. She has worked at Vanderbilt for nine years in various capacities within the Finance organization related to accounting, financial reporting and internal controls and compliance. She was instrumental in the successful implementation of the general ledger module of Oracle Cloud and has an extensive knowledge of Vanderbilt’s accounting systems. Prior to her arrival at Vanderbilt, Blick spent five years in public accounting focused on nonprofit and higher education, including leading single audit efforts for institutions receiving federal funding.
Blick earned her master of business administration degree with a concentration in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. She also is a certified public accountant.
Blick will serve in the interim role while continuing to serve in her capacity as assistant controller until a new senior director for Contract and Grant Accounting is hired.
