A message from Dr. André L. Churchwell about character

Dr. André L. Churchwell, vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer for Vanderbilt University, encourages the Vanderbilt community to look through a “character filter” to examine their behaviors and character traits.

Positive character traits—such as reverence, wisdom and knowledge, courage, justice and temperance—can help individuals engage in civil discourse, convey empathy and lead to actions that help solve difficult problems, Churchwell said.
