Adaptive Teaching: Supplemental support, resources for faculty continue as academic year begins

Throughout the summer, Vanderbilt faculty have had access to a variety of resources and support as they prepared for the fall semester. As the new academic year begins, supplemental support and resources are still available to ensure a successful start to the year.

Live and just-in-time support from the CFT

For Vanderbilt instructors seeking support for Brightspace or related technologies (Turnitin, Kaltura, GoReact, Proctoro and more), the Center for Teaching provides a number of options:

Please note that Brightspace support hours are: Monday–Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 5 to 11 p.m.

The Center for Teaching has partnered with iDesign to offer instructional design services to Vanderbilt faculty. iDesign learning specialists are available to assist with course design and teaching effectiveness questions. Consultation requests can be submitted via brightspace@vanderbilt.edu or through the iDesign Faculty Resource Hub. You can self-enroll in the iDesign Faculty Hub; see instructions.

Classroom protocol videos

Short videos have been made available highlighting some key classroom protocols. These videos are intended to provide a quick glance at pathways into and out of classrooms; proper use of face shields; and proper placement of mobile boards to create a safe buffer between teaching faculty and students. Videos can be accessed via the following links:

Classroom tech empowerment

VUIT continues to offer informational sessions on AV installations in classrooms to teach faculty how to leverage the technology and provide access to support if they are experiencing classroom issues. Faculty are encouraged to visit the Adaptive Teaching Classroom Technologies page for more information and to sign up for training sessions.
