Vanderbilt’s world-class medical and public health experts—who are on the front lines of treating the COVID-19 pandemic and searching for a cure—addressed the latest understanding of the virus, best practices and the science behind public health protocols designed to slow the spread, and the university’s plans for testing and contact tracing in a virtual town hall on July 18.
Chancellor Daniel Diermeier and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente hosted the town hall, which featured comments and information from Jeffrey R. Balser, president and CEO of Vanderbilt University Medical Center and dean of the School of Medicine; William Schaffner, professor of preventive medicine; Linda Norman, dean of the School of Nursing and Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing; Pam Jones, senior associate dean of clinical and community partnerships at the School of Nursing; André L. Churchwell, vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer at Vanderbilt University as well as at VUMC; and Eric Kopstain, vice chancellor for administration.
