Undergraduate competition winners

Max Randal, a rising senior piano performance major and computer science minor, was named the Tennessee Music Teachers Association Young Artist Collegiate Competition state winner in November 2019.

Kaila Geisinger, a rising senior harp performance major, took second prize representing the Southeastern Region in the Advanced Division at the American Harp Society National Competition, June 16–19, 2019, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Blair Academy students win at regional and national competitions

Luke Turner, winner of the Alabama Symphony’s Lois Pickard Concerto Competition, placed third in the high school division at the MTNA National Competition.

Luke Turner and Iris Shepherd were winners of the Music Teachers National Association Southern Regional competition in January. All regional winners compete in the MTNA National Competition, which was held this year by video due to COVID-19. Turner, a rising 11th grade piano student of Heather Conner, placed third in the high school division. He is also this year’s winner of the Alabama Symphony’s Lois Pickard Concerto Competition. Shepherd, a rising 10th grade violin student of Connie Heard, won the Delta Symphony Young Artist Competition in April.

Sarah Pinkevich, an eighth grade piano student of Jama Reagan, won second prize in solo piano at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, Piano Arts Competition.
