Medical experts from Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center will host two virtual town halls focused on the medical aspects of COVID-19 on Saturday, July 18.
The town hall for faculty, staff and post docs will take place from noon to 1 p.m. The town hall for student and families will take place from 2 to 3 p.m.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Vanderbilt’s world-class medical and public health experts who are on the front lines of treating this pandemic—and searching for a cure. They will address the latest understanding of the virus, best practices and the science behind public health protocols designed to slow the spread, as well as the university’s plans for testing and contact tracing.
The town halls, hosted by Vanderbilt University Chancellor Daniel Diermeier and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente, will feature the following speakers:
- Jeffrey R. Balser, MD, PhD, President and CEO, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Dean of the School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University
- William Schaffner, MD, Professor of Preventive Medicine, Health Policy and Infectious Diseases, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
- Linda Norman, DSN, RN, FAAN, Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing, Dean of the School of Nursing, Vanderbilt University
- Pam Jones, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Associate Dean, Clinical and Community Partnerships, School of Nursing, Vanderbilt University, and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing
