McKay, Gonzales are featured speakers for May 15 webinar on LGBTQ health in the age of coronavirus

Two Vanderbilt faculty members, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Health and Society Tara McKay and Assistant Professor of Health Policy Gilbert Gonzales, will be the featured speakers for a webinar focused on LGBTQ health in the age of coronavirus. Hosted by Mayor John Cooper’s Office and the Metro Nashville Council LGBTQ Caucus, the Friday, May 15, event is from 1 to 2 p.m. CDT and is free and open to the public.

McKay and Gonzales both work with Vanderbilt University’s LGBT Policy Lab, an initiative funded through a 2017 Trans-Institutional Programs award. Most recently, McKay and Gonzales, along with Christopher “Kitt” Carpenter, E. Bronson Ingram Chair in Economics and director of public policy studies, and Lauren Gaydosh, assistant professor of medicine, health and society and public policy studies, were awarded a $1.9 million grant from the National Institute on Aging to study the effects of social and support networks on sexual and gender minorities 50 to 70 years old in the South.
