Deadline to apply for Voluntary Staff Departure Incentive Program is today

As the university continues its planning to address the extreme financial challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline to apply for the Voluntary Staff Departure Incentive Program has been extended through 5 p.m. Monday, May 4, to provide staff additional time to consider this important initiative.

The program will not be extended beyond the new 5 p.m. May 4 deadline.

While the university has ensured full pay and benefits through the current remote work period that ends on Friday, May 8, units across the university are preparing to reduce budgets to address current and ongoing economic realities. Staffing levels, which make up the bulk of expenses, and staffing reorganizations are among the considerations.

Understanding the complexity and difficulty involved in making this kind of decision, the university is asking staff to use the extended timeframe to ensure they reflect on the Voluntary Staff Departure Incentive Program and whether it fits their individual circumstance. Staff should direct questions about the program to their manager.
