Deadline for Immersion plan proposals extended to Sept. 7; online resources available

The following changes have been made to Immersion Vanderbilt in light of the impact COVID-19 has had on the Vanderbilt campus. These changes are for this year only and pertain only to students who matriculated to Vanderbilt in the summer and fall of 2018.

  • Students whose plan proposals were due on April 1, 2020, now have until Sept. 7, 2020, to submit a plan proposal.
  • Students whose plan proposals are affected by the COVID-19 outbreak will have until Sept. 7, 2020, to update their plan proposals.

The Office of Immersion Resources is offering remote office hours for the remainder of the spring semester and throughout the summer months. Please make an advising appointment to speak with someone about your plan ideas via phone or Zoom.

In addition to advising, the Office of Immersion Resources will host online Zoom events designed to facilitate the Immersion plan proposal process. Topics to be discussed include finding the right project for you; making contact with possible Immersion faculty advisers; and the elements of a great plan proposal. The first Zoom event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, at 4 p.m. and will focus on steps students can take to update their plans and submit by Sept. 7.

In August, a series of in-person events will be held for students to network, meet advisers and faculty in person, and ask for assistance in putting the finishing touches on their Immersion plans. More information will be forthcoming about event dates and locations.

In addition to these resources, the Office of Immersion Resources will continue to update FAQs and its website with relevant information to keep students up to date and informed. Visit the Immersion website for current information and to schedule an appointment with an adviser.
