Staff Women’s Advancement and Equity Council to hold listening session Dec. 4

The Staff Women’s Advancement and Equity Council invites Vanderbilt staff to a listening session on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The session will provide an opportunity for staff members at Vanderbilt to learn about the Staff WAVE Council’s work, meet council members and engage in conversation on the status of women at Vanderbilt.

The meeting will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Calhoun Hall, Room 109.

The Staff WAVE Council is part of a larger university initiative launched in 2018 by Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan R. Wente to develop integrated and collaborative approaches to further the success of all women at Vanderbilt.

Attendees will discuss topics ranging from the current ways that the university supports women staff members to ideas for how the university can amplify the success of Vanderbilt women staff. Staff WAVE Council members also will share updates on the council’s current work, including subcommittee work on compensation, professional development, workplace safety (including sexual harassment and bullying), value and respect in the workplace, and work-life balance.

Staff WAVE Council co-chairs Cara Tuttle Bell (Project Safe Center), Shunta Curry (Office of the Chancellor) and Jenny Mandeville (Division of Communications) will lead the session, and many other members of the council will be in attendance.

The Dec. 4 listening session is the first of a series planned for the 2019-20 academic year. Details on additional sessions are forthcoming.
