Vandy Cooks presents “Rava Idli and Sambhar” from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the demonstration kitchen of the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center.
Celebrate South Asia Week and learn how to make rava idli and sambhar. Student-faculty duo Musa Subramaniam and Gayathri Narasimham will demonstrate how to prepare this dish from the tip of the Indian peninsula. These steamed semolina cakes are simpler to prepare than their rice-based counterparts and are paired with a delicious traditional vegetable stew.
Vandy Cooks is a monthly program to support healthy eating through cooking presentations that feature the many aspects of food preparation. The November Vandy Cooks is sponsored by the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center, the Program in Asian Studies, and South Asian Cultural Exchange.
