The Faculty Senate will host a community conversation for faculty and staff from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to discuss themes from the Chancellor’s Lecture Series event with Terry Crews taking place the prior evening.

The community conversation will take place in the auditorium of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center. Light snacks will be provided.

The conversation will be led by William H. Robinson, interim vice provost for strategic initiatives, Rory Dicker, director of the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center, and Derek M. Griffith, professor of medicine, health and society.

The discussion will center on themes brought up during the Chancellor’s Lecture Series event featuring Crews, an actor, former professional athlete and activist, that is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in Langford Auditorium. Crews’ CLS presentation will focus on “Reframing Masculinity and Gender Equality” and will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Robinson.

The Faculty Senate will host a series of community conversations following each fall Chancellor’s Lecture Series event to allow faculty and staff to discuss the themes and ideas that arise in the signature CLS events. The conversations are part of the senate’s 2019-20 emphasis on themes of community and civility.

Details for the community conversations will be announced leading up to each event.
