Best wishes to the Vandy Boys at the College World Series

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente wish the Vanderbilt baseball team luck as they embark on their quest for a national title at the 2019 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Commodores won the Southeastern Conference regular season title, the SEC Championship, and NCAA Regional and Super Regional tournaments played in Nashville en route to their berth in this year’s College World Series. In addition, 13 Vanderbilt players were selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, tying an SEC record.

The Commodores are playing in their fourth College World Series in nine years. The Vandy Boys won the national title in 2014.

NBC News journalist Willie Geist, BA’97, also got in on the well wishes.

“I’m so excited for our baseball team. I’m thrilled,” Geist said. “It makes us so proud any time our school or our teams do something like that on a big national stage.”
