Public meetings scheduled on proposed changes to WeGo Public Transit

WeGo Public Transit is hosting a series of meetings to record public feedback about proposed strategic service reductions and a fare increase for the upcoming fiscal year beginning July 1. These proposed changes are in response to an $8.7 million operating budget deficit for the next fiscal year.

The proposed service reductions would be a combination of rescheduling, rerouting, combining and, in some cases, eliminating routes that exceed a reasonable cost to operate. These changes would impact several routes that serve the Vanderbilt University area.

Through Vanderbilt’s Easy Ride program, all full-time Vanderbilt faculty, staff, undergraduates and graduate students are eligible to ride to and from campus for free on WeGo Public Transit buses using their Vanderbilt ID.
