Researchers with Vanderbilt KidTalk are looking for families willing to participate in a study looking at the effects of a language intervention for children 27-30 months with language delays.
Interested parent/caregiver participants and their children may be eligible for this study if:
- The child is 27-30 months old and has delayed language OR if the parent/caregiver is concerned about the child’s language being delayed;
- The child does not have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD);
- The child hears only English at home;
- The parent(s)/caregiver(s) involved are willing to participate in parent training;
- And if the family lives in the greater Nashville
Study participants accepted into the study will receive standardized language and vocabulary assessments over a period of 18 months, reports of their child’s progress, and may possibly receive language therapy from a trained professional. Families will be compensated for their time and receive developmentally appropriate toys and books for their child.
This study is sponsored by a U01 grant funded by the National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders (NIDCD). It is the first U01 grant funded by NIDCD that focuses on language intervention with young children.
