Are you looking for a summer opportunity for an advanced learner in your life? Programs for Talented Youth provides opportunities for advanced learners to take accelerated courses in a creative, supportive and rigorous environment on the Vanderbilt University campus.

Throughout the year, PTY offers fast-paced, accelerated coursework taught by Vanderbilt faculty, scholars and content experts for academically talented and motivated students in grades K-12. During the summer, students can participate in one of the following PTY programs depending on their age:

  • Summer Academy at Vanderbilt for the Young (SAVY) is a weekday program (8:45 a.m.–3:45 p.m., Monday–Friday) designed specifically for qualifying gifted students in rising first through sixth grades. Six different one-week session options are available. Students sign up for one SAVY class per session and can enroll in multiple sessions throughout the summer. From dabbling with DNA to robotic programming to psychology to creative writing, SAVY is bound to have a class that fits your gifted child’s interests.
  • Career Connections at SAVY is a program within summer SAVY that is specifically designed for rising seventh grade students. Classes within this program have been developed to immerse students in a topic of study as they experience the application of advanced content in a unique field. Career Connections allows students to experience how expert knowledge and skills are applied in different fields, industries, and/or research. Career Connection courses are designed and taught by college professors and graduate students.

  • Vanderbilt Summer Academy (VSA) is a residential program for qualifying gifted students in rising seventh through 12th grades. Students at VSA experience life on a college campus as they engage in accelerated coursework in an area of interest and talent while living in a vibrant social community of intellectual peers from across the globe. Courses vary by session/grade level and include offerings in disciplines that range from philosophy to engineering and everything in between. Read more about each course on our website to see if rocket science or behavioral economics, creative writing or computational thinking is the course that sparks interest in your student.
