Virtual Private Network to begin using multi-factor authentication March 18

Effective March 18, multi-factor authentication will be required for Vanderbilt’s virtual private network application, Pulse Secure.

Multi-factor authentication—a method in which a computer user is granted access only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) to an authentication mechanism—is part of VUIT’s VerifyU initiative, which is designed to protect against credential theft and provide enhanced cybersecurity protection to the Vanderbilt community.

The university’s recently purchased multi-factor authentication solution, Duo Security, will be applied to Pulse Secure as the first campus-wide application.

Additional  announcements and instructions will be made available as the deployment date nears.

For more information, please watch the Duo Security multi-factor authentication enrollment video. To enroll in multi-factor authentication, visit VUIT’s MFA webpage and click the “Enroll Now” button, or email the Genesis team at genesis@vanderbilt.edu.
