Applications open for Vanderbilt Student Leadership Award

Applications for the Vanderbilt Student Leadership Award, which supports a mission of equity in leadership positions at Vanderbilt, are now being accepted through Feb. 18.

The VSLA encourages rising sophomores through rising seniors who hold a job to pursue student leadership with less concern about money. The goal of this award is to alleviate financial burden so that members of the Vanderbilt community can reallocate their time to honing leadership skills through student organization positions.

VSLA works toward financial inclusion by supporting members with demonstrated need. To achieve this, 10 students will receive up to $1000 each. The award recognizes the nuances that are currently missing in leadership roles across campus. This is a step toward providing individuals with the resources they need to succeed in their professional and personal goals in an equitable manner.

This is the only application cycle for 2018-19. Applications are due Monday, Feb. 18, at 11:59 p.m.

  • The official eligibility requirements are as follows:
  • Full-time student status
  • Rising sophomores through rising seniors may apply
  • Paid employment status – approximately six hours per week
  • Pursuit of an executive board position in any registered student organization for 2019-20, or a position in Vanderbilt Student Government (fall 2019 organization turnover evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
