Fans invited to Bowl Celebration Sunday on campus

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt is going bowling, and you’re invited to celebrate with the Commodores.

Fans can join head coach Derek Mason and his team for Vanderbilt’s bowl celebration this Sunday at the program’s indoor practice field (Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility).

Come preview the Commodores’ trip to the postseason and hear from Mason, Vanderbilt student-athletes and Joe Fisher, the voice of the Commodores.

The celebration takes place from 6-7 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Light snacks and refreshments will be served, with the first 500 fans receiving a free t-shirt.

Vanderbilt will learn its official bowl destination Sunday afternoon.
The Dores (6-6, 3-5 SEC) return to the postseason for the first time since 2016, when they faced North Carolina State in the Independence Bowl. Vanderbilt’s bowl berth marks the program’s ninth all-time appearance, and its sixth in the past 10 seasons. The Commodores are 4-3-1 all-time in postseason play and seek their first bowl victory since a 41-24 win over Houston in the 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl.

Vanderbilt clinched bowl eligibility by virtue of its 38-13 win over rival Tennessee on Nov. 24. The Commodores beat the Volunteers for the third straight time since the program capped a six-game winning streak over Tennessee in 1926. Senior quarterback Kyle Shurmur earned co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors after completing 31-of-35 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns versus the Vols.

Fans attending the celebration can park free of charge at the surface lots located across Natchez Trace from the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex.
