Vanderbilt IT (VUIT) will upgrade the red phone system at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete the upgrade. During this time, the red phone system will be unavailable. This outage will affect only the emergency backup red phones at Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Following the upgrade, it is important for owners to check their red phones for dial tones.

All other telephone systems (Analog, IP, Lync/Skype) will remain in operation and will not be affected by this upgrade.

The Emergency Red Phone System is designed to provide communication coverage in the event of a phone system outage. These red phones are located at strategic sites throughout VU and VUMC (including the VUH Emergency Discharge Center and nurses’ stations).
