Ahead of Thursday night’s concert at Vanderbilt Stadium featuring Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Vanderbilt Athletics has donated 40 concert tickets to teachers at Nashville-area public school Buena Vista Elementary. The tickets were hand-delivered as a surprise to Buena Vista teachers earlier this week.
In April, Vanderbilt Athletics announced a partnership with Buena Vista in which Commodore student-athletes and staff volunteered their time for students at the nearby public school, which serves two homeless shelters near downtown Nashville. In the months since, Vanderbilt has held a donation drive for books and school supplies, hosted a “field day” for students on campus and sent Vanderbilt student-athletes to serve as reading buddies at Buena Vista.
