The Office of Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET) will hold its eighth annual “Simple Beginnings” Lab Coat Ceremony Aug. 31. This annual campus tradition marks the milestone of first-year Ph.D. students in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine beginning their biomedical sciences research at Vanderbilt.

Family, friends, faculty and staff are invited to participate and support the students by attending. A reception afterward provides camaraderie and celebration and an opportunity to learn about the research and professional development the students will experience.

The generous support of faculty, staff, previous attendees and alumni help keep this tradition ongoing. Every $100 contribution provides a lab coat signifying recognition as a new member of Vanderbilt’s scientific research community and funds for student programming throughout the year.

To support “Simple Beginnings” with your gift:

The BRET office hopes you will consider partnering with them to mark this meaningful event in the life of a new Ph.D. student, and to help enable this tradition to continue for years to come.
