Listening to speech in noise is challenging for children, but could children who play a musical instrument have an easier time listening? We want to understand how children with musical experience process sound in the presence of background noise.

The Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center’s Department of Hearing and Speech Services is looking for children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old who play a musical instrument. They will be asked to listen to sounds while wearing an electrophysiology net and complete simple listening tasks. The entire session will last approximately two hours. Participants will be compensated with a $20 gift card.
