In response to an offensive campaign that exploited Vanderbilt’s Listserv service, access to Vanderbilt Listserv was temporarily suspended on Tuesday, July 31. This action assured that the offensive attack ceased as well as mitigated the risk of future attacks. While distribution of emails using existing lists in Listserv has continued to function, the suspension has restricted the ability to perform some administrative tasks such as adding to existing lists or creating new lists.
VUIT is working to restore administrative functionality back to list owners while carefully guarding Vanderbilt’s security profile and reputation. VUIT is evaluating both immediate and long-term plans and will present these for evaluation to Vanderbilt’s leadership soon. While this evaluation process is conducted, please direct Listserv issues to your local support team so that they may escalate the request should additional assistance be required. Updates will be provided as they become available.
