Update voter registration ahead of midterm primary; deadline to register is July 3

Tennessee has a midterm primary election on Thursday, Aug. 2. Have you moved recently, changed your last name, or turned 17 or 18?

If you are not registered to vote in Davidson or surrounding Tennessee counties, now is a great time to check your voter status and update your record. Tennessee has implemented online voter registration, so getting registered to vote has never been easier.

Tennessee residents must be registered to vote 30 days in advance of an election. In order to vote in the Aug. 2 primary, you must be registered by July 3, 2018.

Important dates:

  • Tuesday, July 3 – Voter registration deadline
  • Thursday, July 26 – Deadline to request an absentee ballot
  • July 13–28Early voting period
  • Thursday, Aug. 2 – Election Day

Vanderbilt University is participating in Project Register, a nonpartisan initiative created by U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper and Tennessee Sen. Steve Dickerson, to help spread the word about online voter registration. Vanderbilt encourages employees to participate in the civic process and cast their vote.
