Vanderbilt hosted its eighth biennial Scholarship Reception March 28 at the Student Life Center. The event celebrates scholarship donors and recipients and provides the opportunity for attendees to learn more about the impact of scholarship support across campus.

Stephen Lanier (center), BA’00, spoke about the importance of philanthropic scholarship support to more than 275 attendees. Lanier represented the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation, which has provided extensive support for undergraduate scholarships over more than three decades. Also pictured above are current students Evan Mercer (left), a recipient of the Atlanta Lanier Scholarships, and Kimberly Onyekwe (right), a recipient of the Lanier Opportunity Vanderbilt Scholarships and a participant in the Arnold Scholars Program.

Stephen was joined at the event by his father, J. Hicks Lanier, BA’62, chair of the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation and emeritus trustee for Vanderbilt, and Pat Lummus, BA’85, executive director of the foundation.
