Madelynne Grace Myers, BA’17, spoke at the United Nations during the International Women and Girls in Science Forum. Myers advocated for gender equality in the STEM fields during the High-Level Panel Discussion on Equality and Parity in Science for Peace and Economic Empowerment.
Myers was invited to speak by the Princess of Iraq, HRH Princess Doctor Nisreen El-Hashemite, B.Se., M.Sc., M.D. and Ph.D. Myers earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt in molecular and cellular biology with minors in chemistry and Spanish. She was Miss Kentucky USA in 2017, and in that role traveled to Washington, D.C, to meet with Kentucky’s congressional delegation to create initiatives to encourage young women to enter the STEM fields.
