The Vanderbilt Language Development Lab is seeking the participation of parents and their infants 11 to 12.5 months of age in studies on language development. These studies are designed to discover how children learn to understand speech, particularly when the conversation is about something absent. Our procedures are brief, fun and entirely safe, and parents remain with their children throughout the visit.
Our studies involve one of these procedures:
- Playing with your baby with some toys, and recording his or her reaction to mentioning the toys when they are present or absent
- Video recording your baby as he or she plays with some toys
All our studies involve one visit of about 45 minutes to one hour in our lab, located in Jesup Hall on the Peabody campus. We have free parking for you near our lab; one of our lab members will meet you near the parking area and escort you to the lab. We also have a waiting area where older brothers or sisters can play with toys and our lab members while you and your baby take part in the study.
