In response to the Administration’s Feb. 12 budget proposal for 2019, Vanderbilt University released the following statement from Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos:
“We must not turn our back on the storied history of America’s academic research enterprise and undercut what makes our country great – the wellsprings of innovation that ensure our future national security, economic growth, and our global leadership position. Last week’s bipartisan budget deal rightly recognized that existing federal budget caps constrain our ability to innovate and educate. In contrast, this week’s budget request from the Administration puts into question the government’s commitment to robust research and education funding. We look forward to working with our policymakers to advocate for appropriate research and education funding levels that will support a new era of even greater social and economic advancement in America. Our shared future depends on it.”
