Vice Provost for Learning and Residential Affairs Cynthia J. Cyrus has named the Implementation Planning Group to facilitate the development and launch of the University Counseling Center in July 2018.
The group is a broadly representative advisory body of faculty and staff with content expertise in student affairs and university counseling best practices. It is charged with providing recommendations to enhance Vanderbilt’s integrated network of care as well as providing guidance on the strategic development of the UCC. Specific areas of engagement for the committee include:
- ensuring robust support services for the needs of a diverse student body;
- outlining the scope of services at the UCC to meet the needs of undergraduate, graduate and professional students, as well as postdoctoral scholars;
- aligning the UCC with Vanderbilt’s integrated network of care; and
- building the physical and technological infrastructure of the UCC.
The group will also review and respond to feedback received from the Vanderbilt community on the development of the UCC. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the PCC-to-UCC transition website and submit feedback during the spring semester.
“We want to engage with the entire student population—inclusive of graduate and professional students and postdoctoral scholars—to create a counseling center that is responsive to the needs of our community,” said Associate Provost and Dean of Students Mark Bandas. “We continue to value our partnership with the Vanderbilt Student Government, the Graduate Student Council, and the Professional Student Advisory Group in this capacity.”
